If you had told me yesterday that I’d be standing in my driveway at 8:30 AM questioning if I’d moved to Alaska, I would have said, “Maybe, but it’s got to get here first!” Well, it did get here and there I was facing a windshield covered in a light layer of real ice. Apparently, the Panhandle got the snow, and we got the “refrigerator left open” treatment. (that’s exactly what my dad would say)
By this afternoon, the script flipped entirely. There’s a brush fire somewhere northeast of us, and the sky has traded that crisp blue for a heavy smoky haze. The sunshine is filtering through in this eerie, glowing orange. It’s beautiful in a “is the world ending or do I just need more coffee? kind of way.
Through the frost and the smoke. I’m reminded that being the anchor of the home means staying steady even when the barometer isn’t. Whether we’re thawing out or shutting the windows against the smoke, there is mercy in the chaos. And another pot of coffee brewing.

How quickly the weather can change!
Faith Check
It’s easy to feel a bit “tossed about” when the world outside looks like a revolving door of weather alerts. But today, I’m resting in the knowledge that God is faithful no matter the weather. Whether it’s 30 degrees and icy or 80 degrees and hazy, His character never shifts. He is the same God in the frost as He is in the fire, and that is where I’m dropping my anchor today.
My Anchor Win
Managing to keep the “Florida vibe” alive indoors while the outside looks like a scene from a disaster movie. I didn’t find a snow shovel (thankfully), but I did find the extra blankets and a candle that smells like anything but a brush fire.
What I’m letting go of for tomorrow
The need for the weather to make sense. Florida is going to be Florida. I’m releasing the urge to check the radar every twenty minutes and instead choosing to enjoy the fact that I’m not currently responsible for shoveling any slush.
The Avon I’m Using
To combat this “Bipolar Florida” weather, I’ve been reaching for theMoisture Therapy Intensive Healing & Repair. Between the 30-degree morning and the smoky afternoon, my skin didn’t know whether to crack or crawl. This stuff is the only reason my hands don’t feel like sandpaper right now. I’m also keeping the Anew Ultimate Multi-Performance Night Cream handy– they are both perfect for keeping me soft and glowing that “Fresh Mercy” way.
Your turn
What is one small win you’ve had in the last 72 hours? (Bonus points if it involves surviving a sudden temperature drop or finding your favorite sweater!)
