The Energy Shift
This week I read Philippians 2:13 in a new light.
In the Green’s Living Translation, it reads
“for it is God who is working in you both to will and to work for the sake of His good pleasure.
In the Message, it reads
“Be energetic in your life of salvation… that energy is God’s energy, an energy deep within you, God Himself willing and working at what will give Him the most pleasure.”
The Conversation with my husband
Wow! So, my life is for the pleasure of God? That will change the way I think. I shared this with my husband and his first question was ” How does that explain when bad things happen?”
I thought a minute. “Maybe it’s our reaction to the bad things, how we lean into Abba Father, how we dig into our faith in him – that gives Him the pleasure”. I mean, it would certainly give me a feeling of worth if I were God Almighty.

Permission to skim the boring parts
This is the mind-altering thing: We are made in the image of God – a copy of God. We know He experiences anger, repentance, and joy. If you don’t know, read your Bible! Start at Genesis and plan to read through to Psalms this year. You are allowed to skim or completely skip the genealogies and the numbering list. As you read the stories of God’s people, look for God’s reaction; it will not take long to see that God is not so different from us.
We must always remember the major difference is that God is without sin. We are human, on earth, living with sin. But we have the opportunity to dig deep into our faith in God to rely on Him. Even in the storm!
Paul put it this way, “For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual matters of wickedness in the heavenlies.” (Ephesians 6:12)
My Anchor Win
Seeing, again, the energy in my life as God’s energy, not just my own willpower. It’s much easier to keep the house steady when I remember He is actually providing the strength!
What I’m Letting Go of for Tomorrow
I’m letting go of the need to “fight” people or circumstances that are actually spiritual battles. If it’s not flesh and blood, I’m not going to treat it like it is. I’m handing those “principalities” over to the One who has the real power.
Your Turn
As you look back on your last few days – even if they’ve been a bit of a storm –
Where have you seen a bit of light?
What is one “small” win you’ve had in the last week?
The Avon I’m Using
The weather is shifting so my 5-minute wakeup has pivoted also. I’m leaning into the Anew Vitamin C line.
I start with the Hydro Fusion Mircale Water, splash on, blot off with a clean towel. Then it’s a bit of Nutura Serum patted in to wake up the skin. Then comes the Vitamin C. Lip Treatment, Brightening Eye Treatment, and Illuminating Priming Moisturizer. If it’s looking like a full sun day and I’m going to be out a fair bit, I will come back 15 minutes later for Beyond Glow Sun Milk. Why do I wait 15 minutes? Because my skin is delicate, if I slap all this on one after another I end up with a reddish complexion. Giving my “every morning” products time to soak in before applying the Sun Milk leaves me with my natural glow.
