When the Headlights Go Out, Faith Kicks In

Hey everyone,

I’m currently pulling “Guard Duty” on the street. The husband is under the truck. The tools are laid out. And I am the Watch that ensuring nothing “grows legs” and wanders off.

It is a gorgeous 52° today—sunny and windy. Which in Florida terms means humidity has checked out and chapped lips have moved in! I’m currently fighting the breeze with my Anew Vitamin C Antioxidant Lip Treatment; it’s my little tube of sanity while I sit watch over the socket sets.

Sitting out here gives me a lot of time to reflect on God’s timing. Last night, the truck almost gave up the ghost on a late-night run to pick up our daughter. No headlights, a dark dirt road, and a prayer. My husband, being one of the “good ones”, pushed through and got them home safe. After a quick talk this morning and a $110 Amazon find, a new alternator is scheduled to arrive by 8:00 AM tomorrow.

It’s a literal manifestation of Psalm 119:105:

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Sometimes that light is a literal headlamp, and sometimes it’s just the quiet peace of knowing He’s opening the avenues we need, right when we need them—even when the road is dark.

A wrench, a prayer, and a sunny Florida breeze.

My Anchor Win

Staying grounded (literally). While the wind kicks up and the truck is in pieces, I’m leaning into being the steady point for my family. Whether I’m managing the household or guarding a wrench, I’m grateful for the “Fresh Mercy” that arrives, even on a cold, windy morning. And tools that work, and husbands who do the heavy lifting, and God’s perfect timing.

What I’m Letting Go of for Tomorrow

The “What-If” shadows. It’s easy to dwell on how dark that road was last night, but I’m letting go of the stress of the “almost-breakdown.” The part is coming, the husband is working, and the Lord is providing.
