“My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest” ~ Isaiah 32:18
Stepping Back to See the Work
When you’ve spent weeks intentionally tending to your life—laying quiet foundations in the margins, bringing order to daily administrative tasks, and building sacred walls around your rest—it is easy to remain in “building mode.” We get so used to fixing, planning, and organizing that we forget to pause and actually live in the sanctuary we’ve been cultivating.
Building the scaffolding is essential, but scaffoldings are meant to support a home, not become the permanent scenery.

From Preparation to Presence
Throughout this month, every quiet moment grabbed during a busy morning, every email cleared on a Monday, and every boundary protected on a restful afternoon was serving a single purpose: clearing away the unnecessary friction so your heart could be present to God and to your family.
Delight isn’t something we can force or manufacture through sheer effort. Delight is what happens naturally when the noise calms down and we step through the open door of a peaceful home. It is found in noticing the warm light across the kitchen counter, enjoying an unhurried conversation, or sitting quietly with the Lord with a heart that isn’t racing toward the next task.
Welcoming the Season Ahead
As we stand on the threshold of a new month, take a deep breath and look at the quiet grace present in your everyday life right now. You don’t need a perfect life or an flawless routine to experience God’s goodness. You only need a willingness to stop striving and start dwelling.
The work of preparation for August is complete. Now, open the doors wide, step into the peaceful places God has provided, and allow your heart to simply dwell with delight.
A Prayer for Dwelling in Delight
Heavenly Father, thank You for leading me through this season of quiet preparation and steady rhythms. Thank You for Your promise of peaceful dwelling places and undisturbed rest for my heart and home.
Help me to transition out of constantly striving and into a posture of gratitude and presence. Give me eyes to notice the small, quiet joys around me today—the stillness, the warmth of my family, and Your constant, faithful presence.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Coming next Week: Dwell with Delight
The holidays are fast approaching. We are on the threshold of a new month, a new season, and a new series! I can hear the orchestra tuning up! To celebrate this turn in our year we’ll be focusing on ways to encourage unity in our relationships. Our new series is starting September 2, Dwell with Delight. Our key verse is Psalms 133:1 “Behold, how good & how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” I’m looking forward to all we have in store for our next 8 weeks. I would be so, well, delighted for you to join us!
